Pre-production: Mood Boards

Costume

Alex is the final girl in the film thus this specific character profile will be portrayed through the costume chosen. She will wear high waisted black jeans and a high neck white top with long sleeves and a checkered shirt to cover her. From looking at previous films like Scream I found the final girl wears baggy plain clothing of which is not necessarily gender specific and they are portrayed as masculine. Furthermore 'Alex' will not wear a great multitude of make-up if not, barely any to portray her innocence and child-like representation.

Alex has a complete contrast to Kelly. Kelly dresses provocatively wearing black, low-cut, short clothing to convey her sexual impurity. Kelly takes on the roles of both the 'slut' and the 'Pandora' of the group as she was viewed as non-threatening towards any member of the group however due to her heavy drinking, sexual representation and abuse of smoking substances she is portrayed as a negative influence and the sub-text of our film will be societal punishment thus the most rebellious of the group becomes possessed: Kelly.

Amber and Tom are both polar opposites however have some similarities. Amber is from a middle class family and is seen as 'nerdy' when in comparison to the 'jock', Tom, and the other girls as she covers up her body. Amber and Tom both are in the same friendship group and participate in drinking alcohol and smoking tabacco and marijuana. Amber's costume is very stereotypical of his class and personality. She wears conservative outfits whereas Tom wears sportswear including varsity jackets/bomber jackets, nike trainers and skinny jeans.

Locations

The locations chosen for the moodboard portray the conventions of a teen horror. There is a haunted house of which is set in the woods and the teenagers explore. We want an old house with vintage features such as old wallpaper and wooden floorboards in the interior to give a abandoned feel to it. As a result we decided we want to film in the red house of which is an old artist's house.  

Props

We want the teenagers to be taking drugs and drinking alcohol as it fits in with the sub-text of our film. Alex will decline the drugs and alcohol thus relating to her not being punished by society alike Kelly is in the film. Furthermore there will be candles and lighters as the teens explore the house and find occult symbols.
